Does your porch say “Stay a while”? Or does it say anything at all? Porches are the first thing that people will notice when they come over or pass your house. Your porch can be an easy and fun area for decorating for the spring and summer. Let’s see if we can help you with some ideas that bring some appeal to your porch.
An easy way to spruce up a porch is to decorate your door. This could include a wreath or some other type of hanging decoration. That umbrella filled with flowers screams CUTE! Or you could easily drape something around the frame of the door—especially to highlight holidays. For example, for St. Patrick’s Day, you could hang a garland of shamrocks around the frame, or you could do the same with Easter Egg cutouts for Easter. Let your imagination run wild with this. Out of all places in your home, this is one of the best spots to just let creativity flow.
Flowers are truly one of the easiest ways to give your porch some color. Vibrant flowers such as Lantanas, Hibiscus, and Blue Bonnets are great options. These are all great ideas because you can plant all of them in front of your porch, and they will bloom in the spring and summer for years to come. For a variety of interest, introduce some hanging plants on your porch. This will help add color and life more at the eye level.
Try finding some solar lights or lanterns. These will give off a warm glow at night and create the welcoming environment you are looking for. There are dozens of options in every size and style.
A “must-have” for this time of year if you have the room is seating. This could be in the form of a bench, a porch swing, or even a solid pair of rocking chairs. We have also seen some chair hammocks or large poufs that can be used for an extra chair. Seating options can be found at almost every price point and gives you another place to visit with visitors rather than always going inside. Sitting on the porch and enjoying the beauty you have arranged around you can bring such peace and relaxation to your mind and spirit both.
