Cookies for the Kiddos

By Madison Rodriguez

The holiday season is right around the corner, and the challenge of finding recipes that both you and your children will enjoy making together can be tricky.  Here is a quick and easy recipe that the kiddos will love to eat with a big cup of hot cocoa!

The Ingredients

  • 12 oz. of chopped white baking chocolate
  • 1 package ( 1 lb.) of Nutter Butter sandwich cookies
  • Red colored sugar or sprinkles
  • 32 vanilla or white chips
  • 64 mini chocolate chips
  • 32 Red Hot cinnamon candies

Directions

  1. In a microwave, heat up the white chocolate for one minute. Then, take out the chocolate and stir. Put the white chocolate back into the microwave and heat it up in 10-15 second intervals, stirring until the mixture is completely melted.
  2. Dip one end of each cookie into the melted white chocolate, and allow the extra chocolate to drip into the bowl. Place the cookies on a cooling rack. For Santa’s Hat, sprinkle red sprinkles on the white chocolate before it dries. Put a white chip on the side of Santa’s Hat for his pom pom. Let the decorated hats sit until cooled.
  3. Dip the other end of the cookie in white chocolate for Santa’s beard. Be sure to leave room in the center for Santa’s face. Let the cookies cool off on a wire cooling rack.
  4. Using small amounts of melted white chocolate to secure, put on two chocolate chips on Santa for eyes and a Red-Hot candy for a nose. Place the cookies on parchment paper until they have cooled.
  5. Serve on your favorite festive baked goods dish and savor these sweet treats.
