Just shy of 2 hours north of Lubbock, this spot is perfect for those who love the outdoors and camping. This is the ideal spot if you don’t want to spend all your time in the car trying to get somewhere. The Canyon is filled with trails, looking sites, and campgrounds that are sure to bring some fun outdoor challenges as well as fill your senses with the vibes of refreshment.
Galveston Island East Beach
If you find yourself gravitating to a beach spot this summer but still want the trip to fit your budget, try looking into this destination. Although the drive is a little further, this amazing destination won’t leave you regretting it. This lively beach is perfect as a family vacation, girl’s weekend, or for you and that special someone. Who said you needed to go to the most expensive beach and rent the most expensive Airbnb to have a good time? Galveston Island East Beach will certainly smash this false notion.
Ruidoso, New Mexico
Maybe Canyons and the Beach aren’t your typical summer getaways. Ruidoso, New Mexico provides mountain scenery only four hours away from Lubbock! If you have never checked out this little jewel of a town in the cool Sierra Blanca mountaIns in the summer, you will be surprised at the number of activities to keep your entire family entertained. There are several opportunities to do some rock climbing, hiking, biking, or basically anything you can do outdoors to enjoy the warm breeze. Besides that, the quaint little town has a variety of excellent shopping options as well as a fun miniature golf course and some of the best restaurants you will find anywhere. Maybe Ruidoso will knock off your socks so much you come back for a winter getaway. Yep! Great family-friendly ski slopes for some wintertime fun as well.
